- Knowing Christ and Making Him Known

Franklin Heights

New Vision's Primary Focus
in the Short Term:

Support existing programs such as the preschool, Project GO, and free GED classes through volunteer participation. These create opportunities for members of
New Vision to develop relationships and a safe environment built on mutual trust and respect. This is the foundation for implementing future programs at Franklin Heights. More importantly, it is an opportunity for us to be the hands and feet of Jesus!

Future Areas for Assisting God's Work in Franklin Heights

Cultural norms that say "dependance on the government is all I can expect from life" is, for many, an ingrained way of life. It takes a great deal of time, education, and personal determination to break free from that way of thinking to one of personal empowerment. We know that this is possible through Christ! The goal of the Franklin Heights ministry is to develop four teams committed to meeting the spiritual and many times physical needs of the residents of Franklin Heights...on a long-term, ongoing basis. Each ministry team will focus on a specific age group so that from preschool through adults, these needs are met. A fifth team, the F.H.T., will support all of the other teams by providing organizational support.

FRANKLIN HEIGHTS TEAM (F.H.T.)
The F.H.T. will organize all of the other ministries and events, such as childcare for GED classes, VBS, back to school jams, retreats and trips, and other events designed to empower families and youth at FH. The goal is to create a moving organism that involves and promotes FAMILY at FH.
MOVING FORWARD
The Moving Foward ministry will be dedicated to the empowerment of single moms with help from New Vision Community Groups. The goal is to show Godly love to the moms of Franklin Heights and help them achieve their life objectives.
PRESCHOOL TEAM
The Preschool Team will assist the kids and preschool staff. They will be involved in reading, play time, special events and building community support. The goal is to use this opportunity to meet with the families at Franklin Heights.
KOINONIA CREW
The Koinonia Crew will consist of New Vision GO! Students. They will be part of the Project GO program at Franklin Heights by helping out during study time and participating in activities with the youth of the neighborhood.
KIDS 'N CHARGE
Kids 'N Charge is a future endeavor, in which we will create a safe place for the FH youth to gather. A physical building with two rooms: one for teaching the word of God and other activities, and the other for selling food and other items. The ultimate goal is to start a Youth Church Service designed especially for the Franklin Heights community.

If we want to lead our youth in a new direction, we must take a stand and commit to them right where they are.

Crime is on the rise in our community and more kids are dropping out of school every year. Drug abuse and other life crippling elements are claiming our youth at an alarming rate. We are constantly reminded of how our communities are changing—much of the time not for the better. We see many of our communities steadily falling into the hands of criminal elements, and sadly, many times it’s the teens themselves who are the criminals.

We want to help them...to make a difference...but we may not always know exactly how. We want to see these precious lives moved to achieve more than this failing world has to offer. We can keep waiting for the government to move in and help with the youth-related problems in our communities or we can take action ourselves. No one knows the youth of this community better than the citizens, parents and teachers that interact with them every day.

If we want to implement changes that will lead our youth in a new direction, we must take a stand and commit to them right where they are. We must be willing to go to them and tell them we love them...that we refuse to allow them to waste their lives or feel that their lives are worthless. We must tell them if they will JUST START, their yesterdays can be over and their tomorrow can begin today.
