- Knowing Christ and Making Him Known

La Represa

New Vision Offers Support for La Represa, Dominican Republic in these three main areas:

1. To help in the financing and construction of the necessary buildings to be used to improve the spiritual and physical well being of the people in the area. (This includes the church, school, community center, etc.)
2. To provide the school children with the materials, nutrition, school supplies for a sound education through child sponsorships by New Vision church members.
3. To aid the community through the church by improving their quality of life in the areas of adult education, job possibilities, advanced education, health improvements, agricultural and transportation assistance, etc.

New Vision's Primary Focus in the Short Term:
Re-build, strengthen, and expand the church and school. (Replace wood structures with concrete block.) Provide child sponsorships for all current school members. Acquire some of the land surrounding the school to allow for the expansion of the school building and playground.

Future Areas for Assisting God's Work in La Represa

TRANSPORTATION
There is no medical clinic close by. People have died trying to get to the clinic by motorcycle.
The farmers in the area have no good way to get their crops to market, no cheap transportation to get college students to class.
Provide a truck or van for medical emergencies, school transportation, agricultural uses.

WATER PURIFICATION
Families cannot afford to purchase purified water for drinking and cooking. People drink unsanitary water which causes chronic illness/health problems in the community.
Fund and build a water treatment plant attached to the school.

MEDICAL CLINIC / PHARMACY
There is no clinic close by. People have died on the way to the clinic from the community.
Some medicine is brought to the community once per month; this does not help in emergencies.
Add a medical clinic as part of the school campus. The government will be asked to help staff on a regular basis.

AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION
There are many, very small farms in the community. Farmers work long, hard hours and still are unable to provide for their families.
Develop an agricultural coop using World Servants experience. Provide transportation to get the crops to market to obtain he best price. Provide expertise in making organic fertilizers.

PROVIDING JOB OPPORTUNITIES
Most structures in the community are wood. There is a lot of damage during hurricane season and poor insulation from heat and cold. Many of the young people in the community beyond high school are unemployed.
Explore concrete block making within the community. Sand and water are readily available in the nearby river. By adding cement, the blocks can be made easily.
