“As You Go” Evangelism

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”   Matthew 28:18-20

In Matthew 28, the word “go” is not an imperative verb. “Go” is a participial form in Greek and should be translated “while you go”, or “in your going”, or “as you go”. It is the context of the main verb in the passage. Jesus was addressing a mobile company. Very much like our culture today, they were always on the go. What Jesus is saying is that wherever you go—home, school, work, or play—you are to intentionally share Jesus with those God puts around you “as you go”.

Our desire at New Vision is for every member to have at least one “key relationship” in your life that you are spending time with, praying for, and ultimately sharing the life-changing message of Jesus Christ with “as you go”. Some of you have been praying for your key relationships for many years. For some, God has only recently placed that key relationship in your life. While we invest our time and selves into them, we must also always remember to lift them in prayer. Individually and corporately. And so, as one body, we will enter into a season of focused prayer, fasting and communion specifically for all of the key relationships represented by our church family.

Submit the first name of your key relationship here.

Pray about how God wants you to participate
in these upcoming opportunities:

Wednesday, July 8 — Family Praise & Prayer Worship Service
Thursday, July 9 — Prayer, Fasting and Communion
Friday, July 10 — Prayer, Fasting and Communion
Monday, July 13 — Prayer, Fasting and Communion
Tuesday, July 14 — Prayer, Fasting and Communion
Wednesday, July 15 — Prayer, Fasting and Communion and Baptismal Service
A prayer tent will be set up in the field by the crosses.

From 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, the tent will be attended by Pastoral Staff and Deacons who will pray with those who wish, and to serve communion. Come as a family or with your community group.

Living Life. Loving Life. Sharing the Good News. Everyday...As You Go.

Wednesday Night Summer Celebration Events

Our modified Summer schedule includes five church-wide celebrations (listed below in bold type)
and many opportunities for developing our “As You Go” relationships, small group study,
community groups, fellowship and leadership training. A small group Bible Study curriculum based
on Brady’s Sunday teaching on Hebrews
will be available for anyone interested. All church-wide
celebrations begin at 6:00 pm.

June 10 Family Worship Night
June 17 VBS Family Night
June 24 Small Group, Leadership Training, Fellowship, As You Go Opportunities, Etc.
July 1 Small Group, Leadership Training, Fellowship, As You Go Opportunities, Etc.
July 8
Prayer & Praise Night
Our next Family Night of Worship is Wednesday, July 8. This would be a terrific time to invite your key relationship to come spend the evening with you for a truly great night of worship with the choir, Robbie Russell, Eddie Harrison, Russ Lee and Denver Bierman! It’ll start at 6:00 pm in the worship center and childcare is available for children age 4 and under.
July 15
We will have a church-wide baptism on Wednesday, July 15 (childcare is available for children age 4 and under). Last year, witnessing over 100 people publicly profess their faith in Christ was a highlight in life of our church. We believe God is working in our community and in the hearts and lives of our key relationships. Many of them either have or will become believers, and need to follow Christ in believer’s baptism. Pray for them, pray for our community, and pray for us all to share our faith boldly. If you are a believer that has never followed Jesus in baptism and you want to participate, email Tshanina@NewVisionOnline.net. If you’ve been baptized but have questions concerning your salvation and baptism experience, consider attending one of our 45-minute New Life classes on Sundays, or email  Tshanina@NewVisionOnline.net so a pastor or deacon may contact you. more

Honoring Our Military

Military Bible Drive

Lifeway Christian Stores is sponsoring a Bible drive with the objective of providing Bibles, with personal notes of encouragement written inside them, to at least two brigades (10,000 troops). Area churches donate the money and write the notes, and then Lifeway will ship the Bibles. On Wednesday, June 10, we took up an offering at our Family Worship Hymn Night. We have almost $1,000 to purchase Bibles at a 25% discount, or $3.75 each (that’s 266 Bibles!). If you would like to make a donation, you may put it in the offering (designate on the memo line), or bring it by the office. If you are interested in writing notes of encouragement in the Bibles, email Tshanina@NewVisionOnline.net for more information.

Outreach & Missions News

Summer Nights in Franklin Heights

We’ve had two weeks of Summer Nights and we’re not sure who has been blessed more... the people we’ve served or the volunteers! Summer Nights is an outreach ministry that is as simple as playing and hanging out with the children and residents of Franklin Heights here in Murfreesboro. We need teams of 8-12 people to come and spend a couple of hours with the residents playing catch or Frisbee, or spinning a hula hoop or maybe a game of kick ball. We’ll bring a snack like ice cream or popsicles. Our next outreach opportunity is this week Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 pm! After that, our last scheduled date is July 14. If you don’t want to miss out on this opportunity to serve “in your own back yard” please fill out the communication card or email Phillip@NewVisionOnline.net.

Handyman Saturday — July 11th

“This is pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father, to visit orphans and widows in their distress” (James 1:27). You have an opportunity to be involved in pure religion. In cooperation with St. Clair Senior Center, NVBC is coordinating Handyman Saturday. We already have 20 widows who have responded to a questionnaire about the need for help with simple household chores like changing light bulbs, gutter cleaning and minor fix-it projects. Join Mo Ludlum and his team as we lend a helping hand for a few hours on Saturday morning. Call Phillip at 895-0200, email Phillip@NewVisionOnline.net, or call Mo at 556-5575 if you can help.

Navajo Outreach Team

Please pray for these servants and those they will serve: Seth Agee, Beard Family (Randy, Jodi, Nick, Bekkah, Rachel, Zack, and Sarah), Patrick Brown, Jerry Chase, Ferrell Family (Mike, Sherrie, Foster, and Megan), Karl and Kelly Huber, Kirk and Karen Naylor, Ben Neale, Donald Orrick, and the Seilhamer Family (Rod, Robyn, Lance, Dani, Turner, Kannon, and Alex).

Women’s Ministry Encouragement Team

Do you have a desire to be actively involved in the New Vision Women’s Ministry but your schedule doesn’t allow it? Perhaps you have small children at home and feel that you don’t have time to be away, or you have health issues that limit your activities. The Women’s Ministry Encouragement Team may be just the place for you to serve! This vital team communicates, through cards, with the women of our church. Maybe you have received one of these cards and would like to be a part of a ministry that touched you. If you would like more information or are interested in becoming a part of this team please email Jeannie@NewVisionOnline.net.

Other Outreach Opportunities

Other future outreach opportunities include High School Baltimore trip and Middle School Local Outreach (7/18-24), Community Service Day (8/29), Guatemala (8/14-21), LaRepresa, Dominican Republic (10/3-10), and FEED Weekends (10/10 & 10/17).
